Abstract
This study was carried out to compare the socialization levels of secondary school students in terms of some variables. Data were obtained from secondary school students (n=565) studying in a province in western Turkey. “Socialization Scale” and “Socialization in Sports Scale” developed by Sahan (2007) were used as data collection tools. The reliability coefficient of the socialization scale was 0.77, and the reliability coefficient of the socialization in sports scale was 0.84. Descriptive statistics, Kolmogorov Smirnov test, Mann Whitney U test, and Kruskal Wallis test were used to analyze the data. As a result of the analysis, there were no differences in the socialization levels of the students in terms of age, licensed sports year, and sports branch variables (p>0.05), while a significant difference was found in the gender variable (p<0.05). Significant differences were observed in the socialization level of the students in terms of the class variable (p<0.05) and the father’s educational status variable (p<0.01). A significant difference was found at the level of p<0.01 in the socialization, and the level of socialization in sports at the p<0.05 level of the students in terms of the mother’s educational status variable. In terms of the frequency of doing sports, a significant difference was observed at the p<0.05 level in the socialization of students in sports.
